Social Health Australia is working with Dying with Dignity to make support available to people who want to explore and understand voluntary assisted dying (VAD).
Given the stigma that currently exists around this new legal option in the state of Victoria, and the reluctance of most palliative care organisations to discuss VAD with their clients, we are aware that this end of life choice may contribute to unnecessary shame and complicated grief.
We will have more details about this program in the New Year. In the meantime if you, a friend or a family member are in need of information and support around any aspect of end of life care please contact us as we do have experienced practitioners we can put you in touch with.
